Very nice work, I tried the AIE Demo Browser and was impressed who good the themes are adopted.
I really hope you will go on with your work, even with such little feedback visible here, you will help qooxdoo alot with your work.
The default qooxdoo theme is windows-like and working, but a little bit “old”, and the ext themes are little bit uggly :/
Looks great! Much better than the original qooxdoo theme. It’s a little slow though.
AIE is the truth! Applications must look great to gain general user adoption and your project is right on the mark. These themes have the same look and feel as applications people use everyday which makes their transition to the web seemless.
Qooxdoo is one of the best GUI toolkits around and now it can really show its strengths because if finally has the most important thing on the web…rounded corners
Seriously, great work!
Great feedback! Thank you Leander, Gaetan and Paul. Gaetan to address your speed comment… the themes are all in code, thus, more js code to download and execute. Gradients, rounded corners (LOL, see Paul’s comment) and shadows are all rendered via div tags. So my themes add about 300% more divs to a page/application. There are two things on the immediate horizon that should alleviate this issue:
1. qooxdoo 0.8’s Decorator object is lighter, thus, less code to download and execute. AIE ported to 0.8 should knock your socks off
2. My continued work on AIE optimization. I expect huge gains before a 1.0 release.
And in the not to distant future you have Javascript Engine folks (Mozilla, Microsoft, Opera, etc) optimizing their software… Good news all around.
Thanks again
Chris
Hi, I’ve been looking for a framework to develop real desktop apps on the web browser. I’ve looked at Bindows, Backbase and other and i found qooxdoo (strange name
). Diving deeper in this framework i found these themes. Q + AIE i exactly what i was looking for. Default qooxdoo themes a a little bit ugly, but these- looks relay professional. Please continue your theme job, ’cause its great.

Hello,
will there be any release for new Qooxdoo 1.0 (or 0.8)?
Thanks,
Martin
Hi Karthik,
Sorry for the late reply. There will be 0.8 and 1.0.x releases. My goal is to release them by summer of this year.
